"Introduce Yourself"
In February 2016, UN Indigenous Forum made a call for introductory videos as part of their promotions for International Mother Language day.
Inspired by their initiative, we started collecting generous donations of language videos from around the world. Sharing and promoting languages is important to encouraging cultural diversity, vitality, and the sharing of ideas, which enriches us all. Below, you can find videos kindly given to us who have wished to share their language.
You can find out how to get involved here, or contribute in other ways than with videos here.
If you would like to take part, send us a short video (try to keep it under one minute) that tells us:
- your name
- your People
- your language
- and why your language is important to you.
You are invited to use your language, or another language such as English/French – or both! – in your video. We also request that you write your name, People and language (in English and in your language if possible) in the body of the email so that we can repost this information accurately on our website and social media.
By sending a video with this information, you agree to our using it to help strengthen languages.
For more information on how you can contribute to this initiative, please contact us.
If you would like to make a contribution to this initative, but do not wish to be filmed or do not have access to the proper equipment, or would like to leave a comment concerning the material, feel free to do so in the section below.
